DOLLS is published ten times a year for doll collectors of contemporary, antique and reproduction dolls.  We publish well-researched, professionally written articles that are illustrated with high-quality color or black-and-white photographs. Queries submitted with sample photographs (color transparencies or slides, color prints or digital images (300 dpi jpg images that are at least 4” x 6” in size on CD disk) will be given top consideration.  However queries and manuscripts without photographs will also be considered.  Querying by telephone is NOT advisable. You can also query the editor by e-mail at editor@dollsmagazine.com. First articles are written on speculation.  Length varies with subject matter, but average about 1,500 words.

Articles can be about outstanding public and private collections, histories of doll companies or makers, or reports on trends in doll collecting and investing.  Well-written subjective articles or essays with a strong point of view or any aspect of doll collecting will also be considered.  We are not interested in articles that are purely sentimental or nostalgic.  All submitted material should have a sharp collecting angle, including information and identification, availability and prices wherever pertinent and possible. As always, it is a good idea to read several previous issues to get a feel for the kind of articles we use and to avoid submitting something that has been recently covered.

Manuscripts and queries should be sent via e-mail or on CD in a Word document. We also accept manuscripts typed, double-spaced on one side of the paper only. Submitted materials will not be returned unless a stamped, self-addressed envelope is provided.

DOLLS is a highly visual magazine. The quality of photos submitted weighs heavily on our decision to accept an article. We will respond within ten weeks and regret that we cannot offer individual comments on any submissions.

Rates for accepted material vary.  Payment is upon publication.
